Even as a young boy, Fred loved his family’s restaurant business. At age 9, he would eagerly balance atop a soapbox, just to help wash dishes. By 18, he realized cooking was his true passion. However, that would have to wait; Fred proudly enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, with a tour in Germany. Upon returning home to Oregon, Fred ran into his high school friend JoAnna. They dated, fell in love & married in 1959. Sharing a desire for exceptional food, Fred & JoAnna (“Pops” & “Peg” as they later became known) opened their first restaurant together that same year. Over the next 35 years, they owned 18 different restaurants, finally retiring to their favorite vacation spot in Reno, NV. After only 5 years, they decided to “run just one more small place for fun”. In June 1999, they began operating Peg’s Glorified Ham n Eggs. Eventually their children, & even some of their grandchildren, joined in on the family fun. Today, that “one small place”
has turned into multiple locations throughout Nevada.
All Peg’s restaurants are family owned & operated by the “kids” & still carry on “Pops” & “Peg’s” family tradition of providing “glorified” food & “egg-cellent” service.
